KUMC's food pantry collection program is active year-round.
The scheduled collection day is generally the second Sunday of each month, although food can be brought to the office at any time and will be sent to our food pantries.
On second Sundays, the bags are sorted for delivery to benefit three local charities:
-
Shalom House
-
Kingdom House
-
Food items (canned, dried and other non-perishables) should be bagged in plastic (preferably double-bagged for heavy food items) and deposited in the storage room adjacent to the office reception area.
Volunteers deliver the filled bags on the Monday following collection.
We have also started our own Crisis Referral Food Pantry at KUMC.
Food is collected for the Crisis Referral Pantry on 1st, 3rd, 4th and 5th Sundays of the month. The food collected is distributed to families who have exhausted their monthly use of the public food pantries. The food is given by referral only by Nurses for Newborns, Parents as Teachers or the Kirkwood School District counselors. We accept canned, dried and other non-perishables foods with an emphasis on items for families with young children (formula, baby food, diapers, etc.). We also accept money donations for purchasing restricted food coupons.
