Easter Worship and Family Activites
Celebrating Resurrection!

The week leading up to Easter, known as Holy Week, is a special time of worship reminding us all of the love of Christ and the joy of resurrection. Kirkwood United Methodist Church has several different services, styles and times for you to choose from to worship in your own way. All are welcome. Just visiting in town this Easter and looking for a place to worship? Or, perhaps you don’t have an established church but would like to take part in these services for the holiday? Drop in! You and your family are welcome here.
CHILDCARE is available at worship services where indicated.  Parents, please come a little early to get your children checked in and make your service on time. Easter is also a time of families gathering together, so be sure to check out the family fun events too!
Here’s what we have planned for you this Holy Week:
Palm Sunday Worship
Saturday, April 13 at 5 pm
Sunday, April 14 at 9 am and 10:30 am
Palm Sunday Celebrations will be held in worship services on Saturday, April 13 and Sunday, April 14th. Come, wave your palm branch high to celebrate Jesus’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem. Regular church service childcare will be available during these services.
Maundy Thursday Worship
Thursday, April 18
7 pm
Maundy Thursday is the first of the three days of remembrance of events that lead up to the crucifixion of Christ. On the last night before Jesus’ arrest, he washed the feet of his disciples and gave them the commandment to love one another as he had loved them (John 13:34). All are welcome to join the disciples at Jesus’ table to enact their last night together by sharing in prayer, singing, holy communion, and hand or foot washing. Child care is available during this worship service.
Good Friday – Tenebrae Worship
Friday, April 19
7 pm
A Tenebrae Service uses gradually diminishing light through the use of candles to symbolize Jesus’s journey to the cross. Through this service of light and darkness, we walk through the sorrow and hope of Good Friday, grieving together at the foot of the cross. As you leave in silence, you are invited to ponder the impact of Christ’s death and await the coming Resurrection. Child care is available during this worship service.
Easter Eggstravaganza
Saturday, April 20
3:30 pm – 5:00 pm

You, your family and friends are invited to an afternoon filled with crafts, cookies, face painting music, mission opportunities and an easter egg hunt on Saturday, April 20th. There will be three egg hunts – toddlers, preschool and elementary ages – throughout the afternoon event.  And the Easter Bunny will be on hand for photos too! Mark your calendars now and be sure to invite your friends or bring the relatives in town for the holiday to come too!
