At KUMC, we are committed to creating Passionate Worship experiences every week of the year. And we believe that this cannot be achieved through a simple cut-and-paste model, but by prayerful, careful consideration of how each song will lift the message and speak the Word of God being presented on any given week. We use music to shape our weekly worship into thematic, vibrant, engaging occasions to experience God.
This section of our website will introduce you to the many ways in which you can get involved through our Music Ministries at KUMC. From choirs and bands to participating on the technical side of worship, such as running the sound board, lights or screens, there are a number of opportunities to become part of this dynamic ministry!
The Month of May is filled with lots of wonderful music at Kirkwood United Methodist this year. There is something for everyone, from adults to children!
You are invited to attend any of the performances you are interested in!
Here is what you have to choose from:
Melodious Mayhem Concert presented
by Rebellion Handbell Ensemble
Sunday, May 5, 4 pm, Sanctuary

Melodies, Melodies, and more Melodies! ReBELLion Handbell Ensemble presents Melodious Mayhem a concert filled with melodious music! Some tunes are very familiar to the ears of the audience like Sunrise, Sunset from Fiddler on the Roof; Love will Keep Us Together by the Captain and Tennille; and the Overture to Carmen, the opera. Then there are pieces that the melodies are unfamiliar but will create an “ear worm”. Carillon is a transcription for handbells based upon the French organ masterpiece; Suo Gan, a Welsh lullaby; and Gabriel’s Oboe which is the title song from a very dark 1986 movie The Mission.
Celebration Choir’s Musical:
“Dr. Newhart’s Neck-up Check-up”
Sunday, May 12, 9 & 10:30 am, Sanctuary

Bring your whole family to church and enjoy this special presentation. It’s the story of a children’s choir anxious to leave on a choir trip. But before they leave, Dr. Newheart and her colleagues arrive to complete a last-minute neck-up check-up. They give the children a Biblical perspective on how God would have us use our eyes, ears, mouth, neck, and mind. Through a massive dose of humor and generous prescription of Scripture, this musical will help children and adults know how to keep their minds pure and their thoughts turned to the Lord.
Journey to the Movies……..Somewhere Over the Rainbow
May 19, 4 pm, in The Gathering Place

Journey Youth Choir presents songs from some of your favorite movies including The Wizard of Oz, The Greatest Showman, Shrek, Sister Act, Les Miserables, Mamma Mia, Back to the Future and many more. No tickets are needed but a free will offering will be collected and concessions available. All proceeds go toward Journey’s summer music mission trip. Bring the whole family to this fun afternoon of music!
