We’re Expecting!  Thank you to the 113 faithful KUMC families who turned in their pledge cards this past week.  If you have not yet pledged your support, we pray that you do so.  We’re anticipating a wonderful new life and vision for our church and your commitment of financial support will help us prepare for the coming fiscal year. 

Journey Choir presents “On Broadway” — TODAY, 4 p.m.  in The Wood  Come and enjoy your favorite songs from decades of Broadway shows, including Sound of Music, Fiddler on the Roof, Annie, Les Miserables, Newsies, Hamilton and more.  No tickets are needed, but a free-will offering will support the summer music mission trip.

Vacation Bible School Training — TODAY, 10:30 a.m. or Saturday, June 2, 10:30 a.m.  Please join the VBS team in Room 201 and learn more about what’s needed and expected during “Hero Central.”  Help us make this a fun-filled, empowering week for our children.

Register Online Now for Vacation Bible School!  “Hero Center” will help your child (age 4 and potty trained through age 11) learn about their God-given super-powers.  At “Hero Central” children will enjoy an interactive, energizing, Bible-based good time as they discover their strength in God. Children will become Heroes and explore how to serve God and God’s mission for their lives.  Go to kirkwoodumc.org for more information and registration.

Can You Say, “I Can Do That?”  The following opportunities are available for serving:

  1. Vacation Bible School — help is needed in many areas of VBS. Contact niesha@kirkwoodumc.org for details.
  2. Sunday Morning Hospitality — a variety of times are available
  3. Children’s Sunday School Teachers — contact Niesha Thomas if you are available to lead our children on Sunday mornings.
  4. KUMC Gardeners Needed We need volunteers to help plant and maintain our beautiful gardens.  Contact Mary Jo Brown at maryjo.brown@sbcglobal.net or Annette Smith at 314-706-2542 to help.

Tickets are available now for UM Day at Busch Stadium — Saturday, June 30, 6:15 p.m.  Sign up for tickets ($25) now in the church office.  Checks (made out to Gail Jones) must be received by Sunday, May 27.

KUMC Wants to Honor our 2018 Graduates  If you are graduating this year, please submit electronically to Jess Horsley (jess@kirkwoodumc.org) your full name, a recent photo, and a short biography including your accomplishments, activities, and future plans no later than Wednesday, May 30.  We will recognize you and other grads in worship on Saturday, June 2 and Sunday, June 3.

May Mission Focus  Our May Mission focus is Kingdom House, and we are helping their families prepare for summer by providing summer fun items such as swim diapers, goggles, sunglasses, water toys, swimsuits and sunscreen.  Please grab a list of suggested donation items on our beach scene bulletin board in the hallway or at the Mission Window.  Drop your donations in the Mission Window swimming pool.

Church Life App is Now Available!  Check the online Celebration newsletter for details on how to get the app on your phone.  Or stop by the church office for a list of instructions. 

Home Sweet Home Drop-Off Location  Effective in May, KUMC will be a satellite drop-off facility for Home Sweet Home.  You have been able to drop-off donations of small household items at the mission window, now you will be able to drop-off larger items, like furniture at KUMC!  If you would like more information contact Mike Fischer at fischer.mj@hotmail.com or text to 636-253-2370.

Safe Sanctuary Training for Students — June 3, 12 noon Students age 12-17 are invited to attend Safe Sanctuaries training led by Jennifer Faulhaber in the Conference Room.  Once trained, students can serve in many areas, including VBS. Connections Coffee — Sunday, June 3, 10 a.m.  Come join us in the Conference Room if you’d like to know a little bit more about KUMC.  Join Jess Horsley and Carol Fischer and others curious about our church.  Ask questions over a casual cup of coffee.

KUM Book Club will meet on Wednesday, June 13, 7 to 8 p.m. in Room 113. The book to be discussed is: The Killers of the Flower Moon by David Grann.  Discussion will be led by Sue Adkisson.

Experiencing Contagious Joy, a new Bad Girls LifeGroup Bible study begins Tuesday, June 19, 10 a.m. in Room 201.  Women of all ages are invited to join us as we share God’s Word and the JOY He gives.  A mission project and field trip are planned during this session.  Questions?  Contact Dee Clay at 314-520-7022.

Used Car Needed!  A refugee family supported by the LEGO’s LifeGroup is in need of a good, but reasonable used car.  If you have one to sell or know of one available, please contact Jim Brown at jamesebrown@sbcglobal.net.
