Third Grade Bible Sunday — Today, 9 and 10:30 a.m. All third grade students will be presented with a Bible during worship. Even if you have not registered, please come forward to receive a Bible.
 
Outdoor Movie Night on the KUMC Parking Lot — Tonight, 6:30 p.m. — “SING” Bring your lawn chair or blanket and get ready to “Sing” along with us. The evening begins with snacks from the Amigos on Wheels taco truck before the movie starts at 7 p.m.
 
Disciple in the Making starts October 3 — Teach Us to Pray This four-week Wednesday evening session will focus on Prayer, and each session includes an optional meal, short video and group discussion time. Online registration and payment is now available at kirkwoodumc.org or you may register by returning in the enclosed flyer to the church office.
 
THE ONE — SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 30, 10 a.m. Let’s all worship together to celebrate THE ONE amazing church family that we are. There will be no Saturday night worship on September 29; just one body of Christ coming together on Sunday at 10 a.m. for blended worship. A 5th Sunday Pot Luck dinner will following in the Gym. Meat will be provided; bring a side dish or dessert to share.
 
September Mission Project — Hands on Kirkwood Winter Clothing Drive It’s time to clean out your coat closet! On Saturday, October 6, Hands on Kirkwood will hold its 8th annual Free Winter Clothing Store. Please donate clean, gently-used coats, hats, gloves, sweaters, boots and jeans for adults and children. Diapers, kids socks and underwear are also requested. Put coats and clothing in the collection box, on the coat rack or drop off at the Mission Window by September 26.
 
Down & Dirty Bible Study — Thursdays, 6:30 p.m. Room 109 This casual Bible study led by Jay Wiesner invites you to come as you are, come as you can and come with a desire to dig into the Bible and be fed! No reservations are needed and childcare will be provided. 
 
Stay Healthy at KUMC with T’ai Chi and Yoga Classes T’ai Chi class led by Susan Marting is now offered on Thursday mornings from 10:30-11:30 in Room 110. T’ai Chi has proven benefits of improved balance, lowered blood pressure, and it’s good for your joints! Yoga classes are offered on Tuesday and Thursday evenings in Room 110 from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Bring your yoga mat and give it a try. All classes are offered on a reasonable pay as you go basis.
 
Play Café — Wednesdays 3-5 pm  Each Wednesday afternoon, the KUMC gym will be open from 3-5 pm for open play time for kiddos and hang-out time for parents.  Snacks will be served, including coffee for the grown-ups.  Drop-in for time to connect, play and relax together.
 
The Class Meeting — Tuesdays, 6:30 p.m. in Room 108  This new small group will bring back an early tradition of the Methodist Church when groups of 7 to 12 men and women met weekly to help one another grow in faith.  Contact Gary Blunkall at 314-966-1859 or George Wootten at 314-966-6749 for information, or just stop by our meeting to check us out.
 
Upcoming Events: Hands On Kirkwood — Saturday, October 6  Sign up here to participate in a day of gathering together to help our neighbors in the Kirkwood Community.  A variety of jobs are available such as home repair, yard clean up, and making blankets.
 

All Church Meeting with Pastor Katie — Sunday, October 7, 11:45 a.m.  Prior to our Charge Conference, please join us in The Wood for a meeting to discuss the current state of the church.  Pastor Katie and our church leaders will be share updates about the state of our finances, nominations to leadership, and more in preparation for the upcoming Cluster Charge Conference.

World Communion Weekend is October 6-7  We are asking all bread bakers to donate a loaf of bread for this special communion service.  Please contact Dolan Bayless (dolan@kirkwoodumc.org) if you are willing to bake for this world-wide Communion celebration.
 
White and Privileged?  Kirkwood Social Justice Coalition presents Tom Schweizer, speaker and author, Sunday, October 14, 6:30 p.m.  Tom has facilitated hundreds of workshops and programs on diversity and inclusion.  Please join us for a time of learning, questioning and discussion.
 
Charge Conference – October 21, 3-5 p.m.  Our annual Charge Conference will be a Cluster Conference held at The Gathering at 2360 McCausland Ave., St. Louis, MO 63143.  This meeting is the annual gathering where we officially approve the nominations to leadership teams, the pastoral benefits package, the removal of inactive members and other business.   All are welcome, but only church leadership have voice and voting privileges.
