Frequently Asked Questions About Worship

When should I arrive? If this is your first visit, we encourage you to arrive at least 10-15 minutes prior to the worship service you would like to attend. Where should I go when I arrive? If you feel a little puzzled, don’t fret! Enter through the glass doors to the left of the red doors off the parking lot. You will be greeted by an Ambassador, wearing a red vest, who will answer any questions you may have and walk you to your destination if you desire.

What do I wear?
Wear whatever you feel comfortable in! You’ll see people dressed in casual clothes and suits. We’re much more interested in meeting you and helping you to feel at home than in what you choose to wear.

Where are you located?
KUMC is located in the heart of Kirkwood, one block West of Kirkwood Ave (Lindbergh Ave. outside of Kirkwood), on Adams and Clay, 2 blocks North of the train station.

Where do I take my kids?
Families with children have four options:
  1. CHILD CARE/SUNDAY SCHOOL: Childcare is available for children six weeks to 5 years old from 8:45 am – 11:45 am in rooms 203 – 205. Sunday School is available during the 9 am service only. We have a top-notch Children’s Ministry and an Ambassador would be happy to show you around when you arrive. We will make sure that you and your child are comfortable before you leave the room. You can have a peace of mind knowing that all of our staff and adult servants must pass a thorough background check and training in order to serve with our Children’s Ministry.
  2. WORSHIPChildren are always welcome to worship alongside their parents.
  3.  KIDS CORNER: We offer a kids corner in the front left of the sanctuary with toys for infants – 4th grade children to sit on the floor and quietly play during the service. Please be sure to sit in the front few rows near by so they can find you easily and you can attend to them should any needs arrise.
  4. CRY ROOM: And for those times when a child is unhappy or can’t seem to settle, there is a cry room available to you. In the Sanctuary you’ll notice the large clear glass windows on the left side. This is the cry room. Exit the Sanctuary and access that room through the lounge. An Ambassador will be happy to guide you there if you ask. You will be able to sit with your child in this sound proof room and still see and hear the service.

BATHROOM: Parents also note there is a bathroom with a changing table in the cry room. This is your closest potty for little trainers!

Anything else I should know?
When you attend a service at Kirkwood UMC, make sure to sign your name and include contact information on the connect card in your bulletin. Then place it in the offering basket to let us know you were here. You can note any specific information you would like us to know including prayer requests.

If you are joining us on the first weekend of the month, please know that you do not need to be a member of Kirkwood UMC in order to partake in communion.
