On Sunday afternoon, November 10, at 4 pm, the Music Ministry of Kirkwood United Methodist Church will present a hymn festival concert in celebration of KUMC’s 150th Anniversary. Featuring hymns from each of the 50 year segments, all who attend will have the opportunity to sing.
All of KUMC’s Choirs will be participating. They include the Chancel Choir, Journey Youth Choir, the children’s Celebration and Cherub Choirs, and Bel Canto’s Women’s Vocal Ensemble.
Musical accompaniment will be provided by the contemporary band, piano, organ, Wesley Bells and a brass quintet. Organist Dana Self and Pianist Jan Bays will present hymn arrangements from the organ and piano including a piano organ duet.
You’ll be able to learn some history of the musical selections too at this concert. Narrations describing the various hymns that are being presented will be provided by Dolan Bayless, Director of Traditional Worship and Music.
We cordially invite you to come to hear and sing along with some of your favorite hymns from the past at this festival of 150th years of music in the Methodist Church at Kirkwood United Methodist!
At KUMC, we are committed to creating Passionate Worship experiences every week of the year. And we believe that this cannot be achieved through a simple cut-and-paste model, but by prayerful, careful consideration of how each song will lift the message and speak the Word of God being presented on any given week. We use music to shape our weekly worship into thematic, vibrant, engaging occasions to experience God.
This section of our website will introduce you to the many ways in which you can get involved through our Music Ministries at KUMC. From choirs and bands to participating on the technical side of worship, such as running the sound board, lights or screens, there are a number of opportunities to become part of this dynamic ministry!
